Useless company

I was transfered into this mob from NWB Stockbrokers and continued under the impression that the t's&c's would remain the same. Only to find out that the selling commission had gone up to £12.50. Apparently this was notified to me by email but I don't recall seeing it.

So I tried to withdraw my cash balance - to be told that they couldn't verify my bank account and couldn't give me my money back. Despite having been able to take money out of my account monthly for several years, thsat doesn't count as verification it seems. So I decided to transfer the account. And my cash balance was then sent BY CHEQUE via the mail to IWEB as it seems this joke of a company haven't heard of inter bank transfers.

Keep clear of them, they are useless.

In summary, I would not recommend TD Direct Investing to a friend.

Non-Existent Communication

Reviewer: Out Of Pocket from UK

They sold an investment without authority even when another department had already confirmed (in writing) that they wouldn't.

Four separate attempts to get an answer over a 6 week period have been met with deafening silence - no choice but to refer this matter to the Financial Ombudsman.

In short, this business is okay all the time everything goes according to plan, but if they make a mistake or there is a problem that needs sorting out - they don't want to know.

Treat with extreme caution!

Oh so so so so so so baddddddddd !!!!

If you want to give your self an aneurysm this is the broker for you.

Terrible TERRIBLE website, a 10 year old could program the coding better !!!

Customer service is unbelievably bad, you're trusting a company with hundreds of thousand of pounds and yet they will leave you on hold for at least half an hour, will take at least 2 days to respond to an email and then you will never be able to talk to the same person twice so you have to go through everything from the start. They are also seriously rude at times.

Your account will NEVER show the correct amount of funds or even the correct currency, like COME ON !!!

I tried to transfer money out of my account cause I'm changing to IG (way way better), and they of course messed it up, taking more than 2 weeks to transfer money, it should only take a few hours at most.

I literally can not think of even one half of a good thing to say about them. Save your self the stress and the hospital visit trade with ANY other broker.

In summary, I would not recommend TD Direct Investing to a friend.

Complete ripoff for international investments
27 August 2014
Reviewer: Wayne from UK

I have a trading ISA with TD Direct and have to say, although it is easy to use, the trading platform is terrible. Non of the stock monitoring works and their prices/changes are delayed by around an hour so you have to use other services like google finance just to keep up to the minute on your shares. Their phone app only lets you monitor your account and won't let you transfer in or trade at all and it constantly crashes. At £12.50 a trade for the UK its pretty average in comparison to other investment companies (I'm sure there are cheaper ones). The only reason I moved to them was because they offered £70 reward for a £10,000 investment. What really annoys me is their approach to overseas trading. They charge a massive £17.50 to buy and £17.50 to sell and on top of this they charge 2% above and below the exchange (FX) rate. So you end up buying 2% below the exchange rate so your sterling does not give you many dollars and when you sell they charge you 2% above the exchange rate so that the conversion to sterling... They are provide terrible service all round - expensive FX charges, Bad customer service, failure to execute, awful delays transferring in or out. this is across SIPP, ISA and normal brokerage account. Just avoid and don't fall in to same pitfall of paying expensive exit fees after you have experienced how poor they are.

Web site and service rubbish.

Reviewer: Dvdcapon from Uk

Three members of our family had accounts with TD. The web site invariably fails if you want to do anything other than do a trade. Problems over a couple of years were numerous but main issues were poor service following issues with the web site. The operation of our accounts were mainly done over the phone due to a lot of the menu choices on the web site not working, so in effect it made the web site pointless unless you were doing a straight forward trade. Linking accounts menu did not work, obtaining online statements did not work, history menu only showed transactions such as selling and buying, on one occasion when solicitors transferred money in it just appeared as cash with no details, money was moved between accounts over the phone by TD but none of these actions were recorded within the accounts, the money just disappeared leaving no trace of the actions.

Overall this left us with no faith and gave the impression this company was incompetent and did nothing over the years to sort out the problems that they were made aware of. In the end we all got fed up and withdrew all our money... (Read the full review)

Poor sipp administration

I have a SIPP and Trading account with TD Direct Investing since 2010. Their service has gone from okay to poor. IF you are thinking of opening a SIPP with them, stay away! Let me tell you about my experiences:

1) My employer wants to make a single contribution. I send in a form to "authorize" it. TD does not allow my employer to pay in, or amend any standing orders or direct debits, without prior "approval" by me. Fine. I send in the single contribution form. They tell me it's out of date (??!!), even though I had only downloaded it two weeks ago, then had to get my employer to approve it. I have to resend form, wasting a month in process.

2) Setting up direct debits. My employer had to send this in three times as each time the form was filled out "wrong"! Wrong = some minor error, like forms out of date or did not submit direct debit approval form together with the regular contribution form. This is despite having a direct debit and regular contribution already set up, and all they need to do is change the amount. So, when employers change their... (Read the full review)

Robbing ********

When I first opened my trading account there was no fee for the service, recently they have started to charge a fee if you have under £15000 of shares, as I am going to sell some stock I will be below this amount so decided to move to another broker. I got an email from TD saying that they are processing the request and I should refer to their charges, I was not aware I would be charged anything. When I looked at the charges its £35 per holding plus £5 to close the account! I am absolutely disgusted, I was moving to get away from paying them money for nothing. Their trading price is also higher than most as well. AVOID!

Disproportionate exit fees
30 March 2013
Reviewer: Blueflatsky from London UK

Just closed a trading ISA and found they charged an exit fee that is well above what is stated on their website.

Service while the ISA was operational was acceptable but not good delays always seem to happen when I wanted to trade.

I have been forced to close my trading account due to my new job, so sold my stock but could not transfer all my money out, they insisted on keeping £100 in the account. On sending a letter to inform them of closure they have not charged me £100 for this which is completely different to the £50+VAT listed on their website. Clearly making up charges to ensure they make some more money.

TD Direct Investing has major issues with Fund Traiding
22 February 2013
Reviewer: TDDirectInvesting_Investor from Dubai, UAE

149 of 333 people found this review helpful

I have been with Internaxx /TD Direct Investing for some time now and used in mainly for stock buys.

The website is very difficult to navigate...

TD Direct Investing is absolutely useless when it comes to buying mutual funds!

I have been trying multiple times now to order mutual funds on
TD Direct Investing, but every time I try to do this, an issue this occurs (pricing info lacks, no key investor info doc available...)

Every time I call the call center of
TD Direct Investing I receive the message that there are "Ongoing issues" in the fund training, and there is no outlook on when these undefined "issues" are going to be resolved.

Even after 10 emails to TD Direct Investing and 20+ calls, no one was able to tell me what those issues are and when they will be resolved....

TD Direct Investing - Leave your hands off it!

In summary, I would not recommend TD Direct Investing to a friend.
