Terrible deal
22 February 2013

The introduction of the quarterly charge onto active accounts was I am sure not welcome, but perhaps understandable.

How iii communicated the implementation of the charges was in my opinion very poor - no positive response or feedback was required to show the message was received, simply the charges were imposed.

How iii dealt with my communication to them to discuss how to deal with this matter showed the company to simply be greedy - they choose to impose the full outstanding fee on an inactive and almost empty account. I would suggest a compromise would have been a fairer result.

I would not recommend dealing this company.

In summary, I would not recommend Interactive Investor Share Dealing to a friend.

Unhelpful, unethical & unwilling to listen

Hi

I had been a user of Interactive Investor for over two years. I was shocked upon one of my infrequent log-ons, to discover I owed them £22. My shares were still there, but they had decided to introduce a new £20 quarterly fee, the benefits of which are only evident to regular traders. Basically they have stiffed the investors that just leave their shares alone, to check on them every four-six months, like I do.

I did ask them if there was anything that could be done, to which I received this reply!!!

"Thank you for your message dated 15th November 2012. I am sorry that we have fallen short of your expectations. I have investigated the point(s) you have made.

Secure Messages were sent on 31 May 2012 and 21 June 2012 informing you of the changes to our prices and your options. In addition to this, e-mails were sent out on the same dates and we updated our website to reflect the impending change.

I appreciate you have stated that this was not sufficient however, as confirmed in clause 12.12 and 12.16 of our Terms and Conditions, we will send all written notices to you via Secure Message. We will also contact... (Read the full review)

Think twice about Interactive Investor Sharedealing...

The editor's review was made in November, just as everything was starting to go pear-shaped with Interactive Investor.

They split with Halifax at the end of October, but unfortunately they do not seem able to handle the IT and admin involved. Either they are understaffed or the staff they have are not up to the job.

I have been in dispute with them over missing dividends, reinvestments and tax reclaims since the changeover and they are still not resolved. They promise immediate action over the phone then nothing happens. When you contact them again they tell you it is a "top priority" then nothing is done.

I contacted the Financial Ombudsman Service in December and they advised me to wait 8 weeks for Interactive Investor to sort their problems out, then they would intervene. After 8 weeks I contacted the FOS again and told them nothing had been sorted so they said they would contact them on my behalf. That was 3 weeks ago; and the problems go on. I think the complaints department at Interactive has gone into overload and switched off.

They were an excellent company prior to their split with Halifax. I have dealt with them for many... (Read the full review)
